On November 3, 2023, the Development and Engagement Platform presented the results of the study “Barriers to the access of higher and professional education for the youth of ethnically non-dominant groups in Georgia”.
Starting from March 2023 and wrapping up by September, researcher aimed to understand and reveal challenges faced by young ethnic Armenians and ethnic Azerbaijanis in Georgia in pursuing higher education and professional opportunities.
Due to the specificity of the issue, the research design was complex and included desk, quantitative and qualitative research components.
Representatives of educational institutions and the civil sector, experts, researchers, activists and ethnic Azerbaijani and Armenian youth were invited to the presentation of the research results.
The research findings were presented by Khatia Mamukashvili, the co-director of the Development and Engagement Platform and the author of the project. The presentation was followed by a discussion. The participants emphasized the relevance of the issue, the importance of the coordinated work of the state and civil sectors for the implementation of changes.
The research was carried out within the scope of the project “Barriers to higher and professional education for young people from ethnically non-dominant groups in Georgia”, which is funded by the European Union, within the framework of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Scholarship Program.
